PERSONAL STRENGTHSPersonal strengths are very important in personal growth and development. They are the attributes that define us as individuals. Personal strengths are the personal skills we use in achieving goals. They are also the skills that help us survive. Knowing your personal strengths and weaknesses can help you a lot in choosing the right career or making good decisions. Strengths is important when you're submitting a job application, or preparing for an interview. Knowing your personal strengths and weaknesses can give you a lot of insights in understanding and changing yourself. And it will help you to make the right decisions. Since we are talking about personal strength I would like to share my strengths in this article.
First, Dedication and enthusiasm. Dedication to work is defined as the level of enthusiasm an employee has towards their tasks assigned at a workplace. It is the feeling of responsibility that a person has towards the goals, mission, and vision of the organization they associated with. I will show my dedication and enthusiasm at work when I’m passionate about the work I’m working in.
Second, Political. For me, politic is entertaining to explore. Not just entertaining but I love to get to know more. Whether the politic issues are messed up or good. Even though, I’m not politically active and educated enough for politic but I would like to learn more.
Third, Honesty. I’m an honest, trustworthy, loyal, fair, and sincere person. In my heart, I do this because it leads to personal satisfaction. In the workplace, honesty leads to better relationships and a great ability to contribute to the group’s objectives.
Forth, Patience. My patience can tackle with any difficulty in my life without actually getting angry or losing myself and became brutal.
Fifth, Technical skill. I can do basic computer like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Sony Vegas Pro, Basic Adobe Photoshop, printing, copying, etc.
With all those 5 strengths I have, I wish to work in any embassies or government offices. Being political with so much enthusiasm can enough support me to pursue the career. Working under the government agencies can help me to gain practical experience and to have that position with the company would help me to demonstrate the abilities I have. But before I get into the company, I ought to know what I’m talking about and be able to hold an intelligent and thoughtful conversation about some politic issues that are happening.
How would you react if your future husband’s family are psychopaths? The main cast of this film is Samara Weaving as Grace (bride) and Adam Brody as Daniel (groom). This film tells the story of a couple who has done the blessing of marriage, but the bride doesn’t know anything about her husband's family. It turns out that there is a ritual for "new people" who enter the family. The ritual is playing a game. They will choose randomly. The bride got hide and seek. The game has only two choices, between the bride who is going to die or the family of the groom who is going to die. This film is a horror / thriller genre. This film is for 17 years and over due to many sadistic scenes such as gunfire, blood, devil worship, and explosion.
In my opinion, this film is a bit scary because many scenes show blood. But we highly recommend this film because it's fun and worth watching. The film was thrilling and the ending was unexpected too. The lesson that can be taken from this film is know who you are dating or marrying. Long dating also does not rule out secrets.
Subculture: The LGBT Representations in TV Shows and Streaming Platforms.
There are lot of TV Shows that have the LGBT representations. It is actually a good thing, because the representation can raise awareness about the homophobia issues. LGBT awareness has led some people to protect the LGBT community. Positively influence public opinion about the community, encouraging more people to do more against hate speech and social exclusion. The LGBT representation is important because it is to increase acceptance and support for LGBT communities and see them as normal human beings. As indicated by the Parasocial Contact Hypothesis theory, when an individual or a group of individuals figure out or learn how to comprehend their prejudice through films or TV, their acknowledgment and acceptance levels go up and their biases go down. Over the past ten years, there has been an increase in the number of regular and recurring LGBT characters in mainstream media.
LGBT subculture become generative spaces where homosexual feelings, identities, experiences, and politics are frequently expressed and negotiated in aesthetic terms: that is, through style. Accordingly, popular music, which encompasses music-making, performance or consumption. According to GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), there are only 90 characters (10,2%) of LGBT representation from 879 characters that appear on primetime TV shows. Possessing the feature of being a part of LGBT community is different from the majority classifications of subcultures. The subculture came to existence because the acceptance and rights of an individual who identify as LGBT today started as a response to centuries of oppression by church, state, and medical authorities. Before 1960s, at the beginning of the sexual revolution, people refused to use the word ‘homosexuality’ to describe people who were not heterosexual. They think the term homosexuality contained derogatory. The words ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’ were first used in 1970s and early 1980s. Until then in 1988, the abbreviation ‘LGBT’ appeared for the first time in the United States. LGBT is particularly for individuals who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
Portraying gay characters is not exactly the same thing as lifting up the voices of gay individuals. A later change in LGBT media criticism is the insistence of producers to not just put gay characters on the screen, but to let gay actors to portray themselves and to have gay talent behind the camera as well. Even though the best portrayals of gay characters have been portrayed by straight actors, but it might be better to cast real gay actors so their act can feel so real and meaningful for them. Additionally, there are bad representation of LGBT community. There are many processes of representation that are vague, invisible, and hidden. The examples of bad representations are queer coding and queerbaiting. There are still things like that happened in western media, and particularly in streaming platform but there is more outright representation of queerness than two years ago. Queer coding simply means when characters may not be explicitly stated to be queer, but there are enough traits available for the audiences think that the characters seen as queer. Instead of explicitly being queer, they are coded as being queer. This kind of thing is a negative thing in the film industry because they indirectly assigning the roles of fake artists, bad person, or troublemakers to the characters of LGBT community.
Female Masculinity in Ocean’s 8 Movie.
Ocean’s 8 is an American heist comedy movie about 8 women who plan a sophisticated heist at the annual Met Gala in New York. Which they will steal the cool $150 jewelry of Cartier, named the Touissaint. The background of this movie is showing how women can be smarter and stronger than men because the fact that they are able to cause chaos at the Met Gala and steal hundreds of millions dollars.
Masculinity can be described as the social roles, behaviors, and meanings prescribed for men. But, that definition is held up as the hegemonic version in our society. Conceptually, hegemonic masculinity is like gender expectation where men usually be defined as strong, aggressive, unemotional, heterosexual, and a dominant gender role over women. And of course, women is perceived as “feminine” in a given society. People equate femininity with being a woman who embodies characteristics like being nurturing, sensitive, demure, or sweet. This ideological concept also casts some forms of femininity as hegemonic. However, the existence of masculinity traits in women and femininity traits in men are still possible to happen considering masculinity and femininity are only concept created by society. Because women can be masculine and men can be feminine without being judged. I think that the society needs to realize that masculinity and femininity are not traits people associate with depending on gender but instead depending on the character.
A woman can have the masculine character in their selves because of certain things. Characteristic of masculine can be described as a strong individual figure, firm, and brave. There are more details characteristics of masculine which are aggressive, independent, dominant, and self-confidence. The internalization of masculine values can be expressed in the women’s body through the form of personality, behaviors, and interests.
The movie shows a lot of women taking power over men in some aspects. But does feminism in real life really harm men? In a simple term, feminism is a social and political movement where all people from different genders, races and sexualities fighting for the equality of all people. To some extent, there are people (mostly men), misunderstanding what feminism really is. They misconstrued that feminism is the idea of hating men, to discriminate against men, and to pull all men out of power so women can control the world. Those are the very common misconception I often see. Actually, the only two things feminists actually really hate are patriarchy and misogyny. Feminism isn’t about hating men but it’s about equal rights where women and men should be treated equally.
This movie presents movie addicts a new experience with female-power and action instead of the usual man-to-man battles. The point of this movie is not only about heist or thrill but is to break the societal stereotypes of women and to encourage women to be strong, unapologetic, and fierce in all aspects of life. The ladies of Ocean's 8 are driven by ambition and very self-aware without the help of any men. It’s embracing the fact that men aren't always necessary and required.
In the first picture, Cate Blanchett who plays Lou is portrayed as a tomboy in the movie. She often wears suit and also in the picture she fueling an antique motorcycle in a gas station. The symbols of a suit and the antique motorcycle been traditionally associated with men. Judith Halberstam, an American author who write a book about female masculinity argues that tomboy in the popular culture is the masculine that can be seen through the outfit and behaviors such as sports, hobbies, and another activities that generally done by men.
In the second picture, Awkwafina who plays Constance is a good representation for women who straddle the line between the masculine and feminine. Suits can be portrayed in stereotypical feminine manners that may contribute to a change in what we associate with a feminine style of clothing.
In the third picture, shows Sandra Bullock who plays Debbie, is threatening a man with her small knife. It shows that she just break the societal stereotypes of women which general women have the characteristics of feminine, such as weak, oppressed, submissive, tender, and emotional. Debbie threatening the man is the power of the main aspect in the concept of masculinity.
And the last picture is a scene of Anne Hathaway who plays Daphne. She handcuffed a man so she can steal his jewelry. She is showing her masculine character because she is aggressive towards the man and has the strength to dominate the man. Her being aggressive is out of the traditional role of women as a submissive.
What is Translation?
What is the definition of translation? Translation is rendering the meaning of a text into another language in the way that the author intended the text. (Newmark, 1988: 5). The dictionary explains that translation is a written or spoken expression of the meaning of a word, speech, book, etc. in another language. Translating has played an important role in bridging both the linguistic and cultural divide that has long existed between countries. In the past, translation was an art or an amused activity done just by vocational activities and not by professional obligations. The main role of early translation appears to be spreading religious beliefs far and wide according to findings after studying a brief history of translation. St. Jerome, one of the famous translators in the history of translation who lived from 347-420 AD, he was a Christian scholar who as a language translator was able to translate the Bible into Greek and Latin from Hebrew. His translation, which was named the Vulgate, was the official Catholic Bible translation. It was subsequently used as its translation for thousands of years.
Why do we need translation? There is a great importance and significance when it comes to translation for everyone. Translating should reflect accurately the meaning of the original text. Nothing should be arbitrarily added or removed, though occasionally part of the meaning can be transposed. The first process of translating is preparing the original text (source language). Second, analyzing then drafting, revising, finalizing, and lastly translation text (target language). The translator should not change the translation of the original. The main purposes of translating is to learn the stylistic scale of degree of language.

The Two Patrons That Are Aligned With My Interests
Clairo
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC)
The two patrons who are professionals in English as field of study that is aligned with my interests are Clairo and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). Clairo (Claire Cottrill) is an American singer-songwriter. Once her song “Pretty Girl” went viral on sites like YouTube and SoundCloud, she signed with the NYC-based boutique label Fader. I like Clairo since around September 2019 until now. While, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or as known as AOC is an American politician serving as the US Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district. At 28 years old, in November of 2018 she officially became the youngest-ever politician to be elected to office in the United States House of Representatives and became the youngest ever elected congresswoman in the US. These two women inspire and motivate me with a very different fields. Since I listen to Clairo and watching her playing her guitar, I start to learn more about playing electric guitar and wanting to be a professional guitarist. I have planned to start a youtube channel for my guitar cover when I’m already mastering it. She is the main reason why I started playing e-guitar. Meanwhile, AOC, I think she is the perfect person to be a congresswoman. She is inspires me a lot especially with being the youngest congresswoman and she is also a Democratic Socialist, which means she supports medicare for all, tuition-free public colleges and universities and a guaranteed living wage for all Americans which I support so much even though I’m not an American. Because I believe that both economy and society should be run democratically to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. They both has taught me that discipline and hard work can take you places. No matter how hard the conditions are, one must keep going forward.
Louisa May Alcott
Emily Dickinson (Hailee Steinfeld)
The two patrons who are professionals in English as field of study that contradicts my interests are Emily Dickinson and Louisa May Alcott. Emily Dickinson was one of America’s greatest poet of all time and whose life has remained a mystery. Only 10 of Emily Dickinson’s nearly 1,800 poems are known to have been published in her lifetime. Devoted to private pursuits, she sent hundreds of poems to friends and correspondents while apparently keeping the greater number to herself. While, Louisa May Alcott who is very opposite with Emily Dickinson, is an American author known for her children's books, especially the classic Little Women. She is very opposite with Emily Dickinson. Because throughout her life, she socialized with her father’s friends and was open about everything and her life wasn’t a mystery. She even allowed her fans to visit her house in Concord, Massachusetts. Both Emily Dickinson and Louisa May Alcott has almost the same profession in English studies. They both known for their writing skills, one is a poet and one is an author. Firstly, I like Emily because of the American historical comedy-drama web television series about her, who played by Hailee Steinfeld. And secondly, I like Louisa because of her amazing novel, Little Women. But, their professions contradict my interests in many levels. First of all, I’m not good at writing with a good words. Second, I don’t even like reading even though reading can help me to improve my vocabularies, I still don’t enjoy reading. Which is why, their professions contradict my interests.

Until today, Indonesian youths has played major roles in bringing political, social, and economic change and to develop our country. As an Indonesian Youth myself, I feel like youths in Indonesia are more open minded to almost everything. However, of course there are youths who are still close minded or conservative. These youths usually do not simply learn about tolerance taught in both family and school class. The National Census of 2010 stated that there are 65 million young people in Indonesia, representing 28 percent of the total population of 238 million.
From what I have read in the article, I agree that Indonesian youths has the potential to make Indonesia getting more known by people around the world and to contribute to be a future leader. In the article, there is an example that shows how Indonesian youths contribute for the country. Students from Global Sevila Puri Indah School who earned 44 medals in an English debated brought by World Scholars Cup (WSC) in Yale University. They won the debate and bring Indonesia flag in international level and be the pride of Indonesia. What makes them special is how young they are because they have not reached 20 years old yet but already achieved amazing achievement for the country. We don’t have to be what people think we should be, but instead of wasting our young ages in such a useless way, we should find our passion and encourage ourselves for a greater person. In the article also mentioned several things youths should do to become a better person. From my perception, it is okay if you have not found your passion yet, it does not matter how old you are as long as you strive to be the best.
By focusing on Indonesian youths, language has been slightly changed. The diverse and rapidly changing stylistic draw on in the construction and display of the youths’ identities. Youths nowadays been speaking differently from the past. Youths from the past more likely speaking politely to everyone. The way how the structure of a language rapidly changing is because young speakers come into contact with new populations or people and they change when they are in a group of new people who speaks differently. So, they adopt their own distinctive norms. For example, slang. Slang is words or phrases that mostly used by youths, it is an informal language that used in texting and speaking. For example, when you’re talking to your friends.
“Hey, wanna go out?”
“Kay, gimme time to dress up”.
The slang they use are wanna which means want to and gimme which means give me.
Besides language, there is one thing to identify the group of Indonesian youths which is the way youths dress up. In 2020 and 2021, Indonesian youths been dressing up like in the 70s until 90s. Researchers think that fashion trends repeat around 20-30 years because of generational changes. Since most of all youths using media social, sometimes they post their outfits in a social media platform. It can influence people to wear what they wear in the post. Due to the social media, this fashion style is speeding up so fast and it becoming a trend.
There are of course, good and bad representation of Indonesian youths in media platforms such as news, entertainment, social media, the internet, etc. I have read an article about one of the minister in Indonesia who said that many Indonesian youths are not participated in the political issues in Indonesia. I also did a little research about how Indonesian youths are represented in one article. It says that Indonesian youths are more likely to be more conservative in daily lives. Which both articles attracted me because of how different their articles compared with the article I use for this middle exam. The article I use contradicts both articles because they looks down on Indonesian youths.
The media representation I use in contemporary global culture is how youths represented as the pride of Indonesia. Because media, culture, and globalization are connected to each other. The article explores how youths already made participations for the country during the Dutch colonization. Then again shows of how today’s youths do something to be proud of for Indonesia. The difference between the introduction and the discussion is that the introduction introduce readers about young historical heroes who fought for the country until independence. The purpose of bringing heroes in the article is to motivate youths that we can do anything to make a great potential in order to make a change for the country. And also, the article fixed the negative statement “I am only youth” to “I am the future leader of my country”. Because the first statement implicate that you cannot do anything since you are only youth but the fixed statement could encourage youths to do something with passion that could bring Indonesia to the international level.
The youth representation in this article works good on encouraging Indonesian youths because it contains examples of Indonesia youths that have made Indonesia proud and also it mentioned historical heroes who successfully made it to the history book because of what they did for the country. The conclusion of this essay is that this article can encourage and even influenced youths to find their passions instead of doing useless things such as drugs or doing nothing because you do not have the energy to make yourself a greater person.

Learning English Changed My Life
Everybody knows that English as a global language, right? Of course, it is, you hear it on television spoken by politicians from all over the world. Wherever you travel, you will speak English to ask something to strangers even though it’s not their first language. Whenever you enter a hotel or restaurant in a foreign city, there would be an English menu. Wherever you take a taxi in a foreign city, you will also speak English to the driver. Even though English is not a first language in some countries but people still speak in English. This is why people must learn English. Speaking English gives you access to a world of entertainment and internet. Learn English needs process. Like me, I had been through some bad situations learning English. I had gotten some bad scores, even got scolded by teachers.
I had been learning English since kindergarten. I wasn’t good at English that time. Even in elementary and junior high school. I was very bad at English especially in elementary school. I would get a D- at English. My mom even took me to English course to improve my English. We don’t even speak English in our family. It just because my English was so bad. Even when I took an English course my English didn’t improve at all. The score was still the same. I was so sick at English that time. Like, why should I study English? English is not even my first language. My family doesn’t even speak English. After months of taking an English course and with the result that I didn’t improve at all, I out of the course.
In the first junior high school, English was even harder to learn. At that time, I felt like “why am I so stupid at English?” Some of my friends in my class were so good at English, and honestly I envied them. Moreover, my junior high school’s first language was Mandarin, the second was English, and Bahasa was the third. We studied English four times in a week with three different teachers. We studied grammar with a local teacher, speaking with American teacher, and writing with Australian teacher. Since that time I tried to study English all by myself. I didn’t take an English course at all that time. As a result, my English improved a bit. In the second junior high school, my Australian teacher who had tought us since elementary school even said to me that my English improved much better than before. I was so happy to hear that. Since that, I studied more and more about English. In the third junior high school, English was the highest score of my national exam.
As I stepped in the senior high school, my English was way much better from the past. I moved to another school where English wasn’t the first language in the school. The school didn’t even have a native teacher. We studied grammar and speaking with two different teachers. I always got A-B at least in English subject. My grammar teacher even choose me to teach some of my friends who weren’t good at English. Other than that, whenever my family went to a foreign countries I was the only one who would speak English to people.
Looking back at my journey to studying English was kind of hard. I had been through all of that. But here I am taking a English literature instead of another departments. Although learning English can be challenging and time-consuming, we can see that it is also very valuable to learn and can create many opportunities.
The Summary of Cleopatra
Cleopatra is the queen of egyptian nation. She is very beautiful and intelligent, she makes all men falling in love with her. Once upon a time, Cleopatra occupying a situation where she had to fight her father and her brother at once because her father demanded Cleopatra to marry her younger brother, Ptomely XIII, who later became a king.
She asked to the King of Roman, Julius Caesar to help her to fight her brother and she decided to stay for a while in Rome with Julius Caesar. But Caesar fell in love with Cleopatra instead, he even enthrone Cleopatra to be Rome’s queen and in the end they got a kid, named Caesarion. Caesarion was never accepted by Roman citizens especially the Roman senators. In the end, the senators decided to kill Julius Caesar in a location adjacent to the Theatre of Pompey. From the death of Julius Caesar, Rome got led by Octavian who is a niece and the heir of Julius Caesar.
Cleopatra had no idea that Caesar was murdered. By the time she knew it, she returned to Egypt. Unfortunately her brother had died mysteriously. Then she came back to Rome and met Mark Anthony, the Roman politician who was an ally of Julius Caesar. Mark Anthony was hypnotized by Cleopatra’s beauty. Cleopatra refused Anthony’s love first but then eventually Cleopatra fell in love with him. Mark Anthony was too in love with Cleopatra he even choose to live in Cleopatra’s castle in Egypt.
The Roman senate council demanded Mark Anthony to return to Rome but he refused it. He choose to stay with Cleopatra, he decided to make a new kingdom with Cleopatra and betrayed the Romans. He sided with Egypt with all his soldiers. Hearing that news, Julius Caesar's heir, Octavian, was very mad, and with the Roman soldiers intend to attack Cleopatra and Antony in Egypt.
Unfortunately, in war between Egypt and Rome, many Rome troops died by Egypt troops. Mark Anthony was hopeless, he decided to kill himself with his sword. After the death of Mark Anthony, Cleopatra felt she would not be able to defend Egypt from the onslaught of Octavian. Cleopatra and with her two very loyal servants decided to end their life by allowing the very poisonous snake Asp to bite their body.
